Personal by Design
Our home can feel personal and familiar. Meals, routines, and activities are shaped around the people who live here, rather than a one size fits all schedule. Our caregivers get to know the little things that make each resident comfortable: one person takes her tea while reading a book, while another likes to watch a show on TV. These details may seem small, but knowing them is part of caring for someone well. In a home this size, changes in routine and care needs don’t go unnoticed.
Care That Adjusts as Needs Change
As you or your loved one gets older, things change. Memory becomes fuzzier, it takes more time to move from one place to another, and simple tasks can become more difficult. At We Care, we adjust the level of care as those changes occur. We assess regularly, looking at both mental and physical health, and when a significant cognitive or physical change occurs, we consult the resident’s physician. As needs increase, so does their personalized level of care.
Our staff is trained and prepared to support residents who transition to bedridden care or begin hospice services, allowing them to remain with the caregivers, routines, and familiar surroundings they know. For families, that means their loved one can continue receiving the care they need without having to leave the home they have come to know.
Is Assisted Living the Right Fit?
Assisted living may be a good fit for someone who is still able to enjoy many parts of daily life but needs a little more support along the way. This might include help with bathing and dressing, medications, meals, mobility, or other everyday tasks.
Every person is different, and deciding when more support is needed can be difficult for families. We are here to help you through that decision and walk alongside you and your loved one throughout their care journey.
Common Questions
What is assisted living?
Assisted living provides support with everyday activities for older adults who need a little more help but do not require full-time skilled nursing care. This may include assistance with bathing, dressing, medications, meals, mobility, and other daily routines, while allowing residents to maintain as much independence as possible. At We Care, that support is provided in a licensed six-bed home rather than a large community, creating a more personal and familiar setting.
How do I know if my loved one needs assisted living?
Families usually start noticing small things before anything serious happens. Meals get skipped or come from a box. Medications get missed or doubled. Bathing becomes less frequent. Getting up from a chair takes longer, or there has been a fall. The stove may be left on, the front door may be left unlocked, or other small safety concerns may start coming up. Laundry piles up, or the house stops being kept the way it used to be.
Any one of these on its own may not mean much. Several together can be a sign that living alone has become harder or less safe than it looks. If you are unsure, a tour and an assessment can provide clarity.
Does someone need to be able to walk to live in assisted living?
No. Assisted living is not only for people who are able to walk independently. We are licensed to care for both ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents, including those who need two-person transfer assistance or a Hoyer lift.
One of the most important considerations is whether your loved one can safely evacuate through an emergency exit, either independently or with the level of assistance our home is licensed and equipped to provide. We are here to support residents with different levels of mobility and independence.
A change in mobility does not necessarily mean your loved one has to move. As their needs change, we work with families to determine whether we can safely continue providing the appropriate level of care in our home.
Do you help with bathing, dressing, and grooming?
Yes. Our caregivers can assist your loved one with bathing, dressing, grooming, and oral care as needed. We provide this support with patience, respect, and attention to your loved one’s comfort and dignity, while encouraging them to remain as independent as possible.
Do you provide incontinence care?
Yes. We provide incontinence care with scheduled toileting, changing, and personal hygiene support, always handled discreetly and with dignity. Incontinence is a common part of aging and changing care needs, and our caregivers are experienced and prepared to provide the assistance your loved one needs while respecting their privacy and comfort.
How many caregivers will you have present at your home?
Your loved one will have a familiar team of caregivers who can get to know them personally. We plan to have two caregivers present during each shift, providing consistent support throughout the day and night. Over time, our caregivers come to know each resident’s routines, preferences, and the little things that help them feel comfortable, safe, and at home.
How much does assisted living cost?
The cost depends on your loved one’s room type and level of care. During the assessment, we look at their physical and cognitive needs to determine which level of care is the best fit. Some residents may need only basic assistance with daily activities, while others may need more hands-on support.
All levels of care include a furnished room, home-cooked meals, laundry, daily housekeeping, and 24-hour care and supervision. Specialized care needs, such as hospice or bedridden care, are assessed individually.
Once we learn more about your loved one’s needs, we can provide a personalized rate and walk you through what is included.
What is the admission process?
We begin with a tour and a conversation about your loved one’s preferences, and care needs. From there, we complete an assessment, gather the necessary health and personal information, and develop an individualized care plan before move-in.
